Bangalore Torpedoes are anti-personnel mine clearing charges originally
used during WWII. Each section is essentially a long metal pipe crammed
with over 9 POUNDS of high-yield TNT. Manned and deployed by one or two
soldiers or engineers, the explosive is placed below bunkers, near tank
traps, and under troop obstacles (such as barbed wire entanglements) and
then detonated with either a remote-controlled electric detonator, or in
times of great combat urgency, a non-electric blasting cap with delayed-action
fuse.
Bangalores were first used extensively by invading
Allied troops during the Normandy D-Day Invasion during WWII, and
quickly got a reputation both for their tremendous explosive power, and
for their danger to the troops who had to handle them! Imagine running across
a beach carrying 5' long pipe sections filled with high explosives--while
mortars and machine gun bullets rain down around you. (Whew!)
Our Bangalores accurately simulate TWO connected sections ready to "blow" an enemy's position to smithereens! (The two "sections" are designated by decals.) These are exact 1/6th scale reproductions of the real thing that come fully-assembled and are completely pre-painted--saving you HOURS of painstaking custom work! This is a nice, big item too. Over 15" long! All you have to do is apply the amazing sheet of waterslide decals (included) for the most realistic military display possible. Complete instructions are also included.
