A SHORT HISTORY: Punji Stake traps
have been around since ancient Roman times. Clearly they're a time proven,
ultra-low tech anti-personnel defensive system that can slow down
or injure even the most modernly-equipped soldiers.
Throughout the centuries, Punji Stakes have been made of such
materials as buried arrows or spears, rusty scrap iron bars or simply sharpened
wooden sticks (such as the bamboo style seen during the Vietnam War). To
increase their deadly effect, the stakes were often coated with deadly poisons
or some other filth that was capable of causing blood-poisoning in their
victims. Nasty stuff!
The versatility of Punji Stakes is obvious to anyone who has encountered
them. Often, they were placed protruding outward in hillsides or earthern
berms (see background photo), around the perimeter of base camps
and observation towers (or near other such defensive positions), spread
widely throughout entire battlefields (see top photo of "Punji
Stake Hill" above), or buried completely underground so as to create
deadly pit traps for unwary soldiers.
 DESCRIPTION:
Our 1:6 scale Punji Stake Traps are completely pre-assembled
from the finest woods, glues, and reinforcing metal staple nails (TWO
traps are shown in the photo at left). No assembly is required
on your part, although you are free to stain, paint, weather, or modify
them in any other way so as to most realistically fit them into your diorama's
time period. Each Patches of Pride Punji Stake Trap measures approximately
13" x 15" and consists of (33) 3" stakes secured onto 6 reinforcing
rows, with two main support beams. All of the little stakes are realistically
SHARP and so this is an item that is not recommended for children (VERY
pointy!) Use these products ONLY in an adult-supervised 1:6 scale diorama
display. Patches of Pride cannot be held responsible for any injuries
caused from the misuse of this product. If desired (for increased safety),
we recommend that you simply snip off the tips of each spike with a pair
of scissors in order to make them safer.
